Laure Prouvost. GDM – Grand Dad’s Visitor Center

The winner of the 2013 Turner Prize, with her video and film installations, Laure Prouvost (1978, Croix-Lille, France) overturns the conventional forms of narration to blur the boundaries between reality and fiction.

Her works, which straddle art and cinema, create bizarre and mysterious situations in which reality becomes increasingly uncertain. Her films come across as an audio-visual cacophony of images that are seductive yet also troubling, playful and irreverent. 

Some of her main projects will be presented for her solo show at Pirelli HangarBicocca. After working as the assistant to John Latham, Prouvost began to exhibit her works in the early 2000s. She has had exhibitions at various international institutions such as the Sculpture Center, New York (2011); the Tate Britain, London (2013); the New Museum, New York; the Neuer Berliner Kunstverein, Berlin; the Kunsthalle Wien, Vienna (2014). In 2013 she won Max Mara Art Prize for Women.
