In anticipation of the new shroud event the Turin Royal Palace offers to the public a new vision of its treasures.
It will present the sacred spaces of the Royal Palace and those bordering the Chapel of the Holy Shroud, lived by the Savoy court and designed by the greatest architects of the Turin Baroque: Guarino Guarini, Filippo Juvarra and Benedetto Alfieri.
Thanks to a work break the yard of the Shroud, due all'ostensione, you will have access to an exclusive overlooking the Chapel of Guarini. Here the visitor can have a perception impressiveness of the yard, with a view of the scaffolding and the structure that protects the high altar and can admire, through a play of light, one of the few servings was saved from the devastating fire of 1997: the Right vestibule with its curved staircase from the steps made with precious marble blacks had been lost in the dome. Restoration work in progress, by the architect Marina Feroggio, will be presented to visitors through a sampling of the phases of restoration and reconstruction of the capitals. One aim of the exhibition is, in fact, present a restoration site on extremely complex architecture of fundamental importance, informing the public about the work and progress that have never ceased in all these years.
