Steve McCurry is one of the greatest master of contemporary photography, a household name for a vats public, particularly for youth, who find in his photos a certain look at our times in which they, somehow, “see” themselves.
Every photo by Steve McCurry is a gateway to a complex universe of experiences and emotions and many of his images - starting from the portrait of Sharbat Gula - have become icons in their own right and are widely familiar all over the world.
The new exhibition hosted in the grandiose Citroniera of the Juvarra Stables at the Venaria Reale estate, is the largest and most comprehensive that Civita and SudEst57 have devoted since 2009 to the great American photographer. Previous shows in various venues have attracted more than 700,000 visitors.
The exhibition consists of around 250 of his most famous photos that span thirty years, but also more recent works and other images that have not yet appeared in his numerous books.
The exhibition, curated by Biba Giacchetti and “staged” in the Citroniera by Peter Bottazzi, is a journey through McCurry’s world, from Afghanistan to India, from South-East Asia to Africa, from Cuba to the United States, from Brazil to Italy, illustrated by a vast and fascinating collection of images.
