The Marciana National Library organizes its Monumental Halls , from 1 December 2013 to 9 February 2014, the exhibition " Life and books in the Biblioteca Marciana between 1920 and 1948 under the direction of Louis Ferrari."
The exhibition , curated by Stefano Found illustrate a little-known period in the history of Marciana years of Luigi Ferrari (1878-1949) , director of the Library from 1920 to 1948 . Visitors will have the opportunity to see for the first time documents that testify to the impact on the lives of the Library of the events of the time: a message will be displayed by the then Minister Benedetto Croce on strikes that accompanied the end of liberal , circular ( for example, a " tissue " ) of the Fascist era , including one that imposed the census of Jews in view of the racial laws of 1938 , and , next to it , even the tiny handwritten a letter to the Minister of Ferrari Bottai , with which the director tried in vain to prevent the dismissal of a Jewish librarian . Featured will also place the minutes of the Committee of purging that Luigi Ferrari acquitted of charges of having collaborated with fascism . They will also be exposed to books and journals that exemplify some aspects of the Venetian printing of those years , as well as other publications of the period, among which stands out for your interest in a Russian book , richly illustrated , printed in 1924 on the occasion of the death of Lenin and sent in gift to the Marciana .
