Two exhibitions in prestigious exhibition spaces of the Prada Foundation, in Venice and Milan, going to analyze, in a single ideal project, some issues of greek-Roman statuary, from the Renaissance to Neoclassicism.
At Ca 'Corner della Regina over 90 works explore the origins and functions of miniature reproductions of classical sculptures shooting in size and in different materials from the original. Among the works on display the Farnese Hercules, proposed a series of scale models in marble, bronze and terracotta; some small masterpieces in the classical era approached multiple of the Renaissance; a collection of important figures of collectors of the sixteenth century; case studies from the Belvedere Torso and the Laocoon, where artists have used copies in small format to develop hypotheses about the missing parts of the original classic.
Layout designed by OMA.
Publication-catalog published by Prada Art Project.
