The Civic Museums Foundation of Venice, in collaboration and with the support of Venice Foundation, American Friends of Venice Foundation and the Comité Français pour la Sauvegarde de Venise, present the project "Sublime Canova", aimed at the future restoration of the precious section dedicated to Antonio Canova in the Correr Museum.
The project started with the objective of recovering the original unitary character of the collection, highlighting the special "Venetian" connected with the history of the works and their owners, one of the first to appreciate the genius sculptor, who was in Venice his true artistic home .
The collection will find perfect harmony with the salt of Sighs, in their bright neoclassical style of decoration, thanks to a careful restoration and redevelopment.
The project, after the approval stages and share with the Superintendents Venetian, has found critical support in Venice Foundation and the American Friends of Venice Foundation that will support the new opened a museum and exhibition.
Crucial will also support the Comité Français pour la Sauvegarde de Venise which will support the restoration of architecture and decoration of the rooms according to the tried and tested formula that has already involved major sponsors, the project to restore the Royal Palace for years given their valuable assistance.
The initiative will bring new impetus to the program of renovation and restoration of the spaces of the Correr Museum, which we hope will change in the coming years, both museology and museological, this extraordinary building, treasure of the most important historical and artistic identity cultural center of Venice for centuries.
