Galleria Varsi was founded in 2013 by Massimo Scrocca to explore artistic expressions related to Urban Art, to create solo and collective indoor exhibitions and to promote Public Art in the Roman and Italian territory.
The Gallery is located in the heart of Rome, close to Campo de 'Fiori, and has become a place of experimentation where artists can develop and show their research, extending their potential beyond the surface of urban walls. A peculiar feature of the Gallery is the creation of indoor installations for each exhibition, which allow the artists to fully express themselves and the public to experience multiple techniques and unusual disciplines. The scope of the curator is the visionary transformation of space, conceived as a dimension of possibilities that cyclically change under the influence of different thoughts, each time filled with new meanings. Numerous worlds take shape in the Gallery and invite the viewer to come inside. In three years, the Gallery has hosted exhibitions of the most innovative urban Italian and international artists and presented two historical writers to describe the roots of that artistic movement. Galleria Varsi has produced public works in various Roman districts, including Torpignattara and Primavalle, with the support of public institutions such as the Municipality of Rome, and has involved the inhabitants of the city in its creative process, helping to redevelop the areas in which it operates. The research of the Gallery aims to show Urban Art at its full scope, and therefore public mural works and indoor exhibitions are complemented by the presence of an onsite bookshop dedicated to selected artistic publications and to the Gallery’s own editorial productions.
