It is the biggest park in the city and like many others, has its origins as a country home for a noble family. The Casino del Bel Respiro(The House of Easy Breathing), centerpiece of the property, was built betwee 1644 and 1652 by Camillo Pamphilj, nephew of Innocence X. In 1856, it was fused with the neighboring villa of the Corsini, while the main changes came in 1960, when the opening of Via Olimpica cut it in two. Since 1967, it has belonged to the State and the city; today the Palace is an office of the italian government, while 184 hectars are dedicated to the public as a park.
