Mosaics on Facade
Commissioned by Pope Nicholas IV and, after his death, looked to by his nephews Iacopo and Pietro Colonna. They are visible upon request, climbing up to the loggia of the facade. The upper section, signed by the master in its lower part, presents a tondo with Christ on the Throne and Cardinals Iacopo and Pietro Colonna, on the sides are the Virgin and Saints Paul, James and Jerome and Saints John the Baptist, Peter, Andrew and Matthew. Above are the Symbols of the Evangelists. The lower section, of lesser quality, are of the Stories of the Foundation of the Basilica.
