Virgin with the Baby and Two Angel Musicians
This beautiful painting by the flemish master shows two angels with a lute and a violin beside the traditional figures of Maria with Baby Jesus, who  stands upon a globe crushing a serpent. The work, of clear symbolic meaning, was created by the painter during one of his stays in Rome in 1622 and 1623, occasions during which he remained distant from the anti-academic tendencies taken up by many flemish artists.
