The museum preserves two important studies in terracotta produced by Bernini for the Fountain of the Four Rivers in Piazza Navona in Rome (1648-1651). It depicts the Nile with its face covered, indicating that its source had not yet been discovered, as well as the River Plate, with its dramatic pose poised on the rock.
