DESCRIZIONE:
This is a block of the city that, in the classical age, held an enormous portico, the Crypta Balbi, situated near the theatre and built in 13 B.C. by Lucio Cornelio Balbo. Today it is possible to visit some of the buildings in this area found on the ancient map (Forma Urbis) of the city and see the objects found here. Walking through this museum means walking through time, following the transformation of the city from the First Century B.C. to the Middle Ages, from the Renaissance to the Twentieth Century. It is a true museum of urban archeology, inaugurated in 2001.
