Bergamo - The altarpiece by Lorenzo Lotto has finally returned at the Church of Santo Spirito, from where it has been missing for five months.
Visitors and faithful will again see the large painting, created ??by the artist in 1521 and depicting a "Madonna and Child with Saint Catherine of Alexandria, St. Augustine and St. Anthony the Great."
In addition to the representation of a landscape in the background, which demonstrates a return to the style of Veneto and Lombardy, the work shows in the lower part an ironic detail of a St. John playing with a little lamb, the Agnus Dei.
The delicate restoration, which consisted essentially in a cleaning operation, has brought back its bright colors.
On this occasion, there will be a special guided tour, along with a historical reenactment on August 2 at 4pm.
