Gaul Killing Himself and His Wife
National Roman Museum Palazzo Altemps
The statue, which depicts a celtic warrior killing himself and his wife, is also known as theGalata Ludovisi. It is a roman copy of an original grecian bronze commissioned by Attalus I in 220 B.C. to celebrate his victory against the population of Gaul and was part of the same series to which the Gaul Dying belonged, now held at the Capitoline Museums.
