With an area of 1,700 square meters, the Domus di Tito Macro is one of the largest residences of the Roman era in Northern Italy. The house extends for about 77 meters in length and 25 in width at the widest point, between two cobbled streets of the city, within one of the southern blocks of Roman Aquileia.
It is believed that it was the home of Tito Macro, a wealthy inhabitant of Aquileia, on the basis of the discovery of a stone weight with an iron handle bearing the inscription T. MACR. Recent excavations have made it possible to reconstruct the plan of the entire domus in the phase between the end of the first century BC. and the first decades of the 1st century AD.
