Rachel Rose (b. New York, 1986), winner of the 2014 illy Present Future Prize with the work A Minute Ago (2014), is presenting a new video installation at Castello di Rivoli Museo d’Arte Contemporanea. It is curated by Marianna Vecellio.
‘For her solo exhibition at the Castello di Rivoli Museo d’Arte Contemporanea, the young American artist Rachel Rose has created Interiors, 2015, a poetic and immersive video installation that investigates the experience of vision inside the eye. (…) Invited to walk on a carpet the colour of Cosmic Latte, the spectator arrives at a projection that corresponds to what we see when our eyes are closed, inside our eyelids. Set opposite of a large semicircular window, the projection replicates its shape and dimensions. The two forms mirror each other, showing the museum’s exterior courtyard on one side and a projection of our perception on the other.’ (Marianna Vecellio)
Rose is one of the most promising young artists of the moment. Through the use of shot footage, complex sound, and her distinct editing techniques, Rose’s video and installations address how we define mortality.
