The National Cinema Museum presents world premieres , from 3 April to 31 August 2014, the show Best actress. Dive da Oscar®. Designed by Stephen Tapert , is an homage to the 72 women who, between 1929 and 2014, they received the prestigious statuette for Best Actress. Big stars and actresses that have marked not only the history of cinema, but also the costume , icons extraordinary changes in the role of women in American society throughout the whole of the twentieth century .
The exhibition , curated by Stephen Tapert , Nicole Pacini , Tamara Sillo , develops on the outer gate of the Mole, and in the Temple Hall , the heart of the National Museum of Cinema. It consists of 370 pieces , from Stephen Tapert , from the collections of the Museum of Cinema and American collectors , English and Italian .
The visit to the exhibition begins on the outer gate of the Mole, where is rebuilt a sort of virtual red carpet , with pictures of 19 actresses who walk the boardwalk entrance to the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood for the awards ceremony , between the wings of photographers and videographers .
Inside the museum, in the Temple Hall , a spectacular exhibition at the base of the big screens presents sketches, costumes and formal dresses , worn by stars during Oscar Night : the famous Valentino dress for Julia Roberts the stylish Armani suit for Jodie Foster (which comes directly from the personal wardrobe of the actress ), up to the vagaries created by Bob Mackie for Cher. And yet the dress worn by Louise Rainer in 1937 , some costumes worn by Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman and Emma Thompson on their set.
The exhibition continues on the spiral ramp with a chronological path that, as developing a film reconstructs the story of the famous prize. 86 years of memories ranging from the statuette awarded to Janet Gaynor in 1929 until this year received an Oscar from Cate Blanchett, alternating stills, sequences of the film, portraits, posters rare snapshots of the ceremony.
The exhibition ends on top of the spiral ramp, with a section dedicated to Oscar Night : Invitation to the awards , advertising posters and programs of the most striking, influential and popular celebration of the film and its characters.
From April 1 to 25 , the Cinema Massimo also will feature a selection of 16 films, many starring the Oscar -winning actresses. At the same time , in the Library will be repeated three films dedicated to the three great performers of the sixties : Anne Bancroft , Elizabeth Taylor and Katherine Hepburn.
For the duration of the exhibition, the museum education propose new guided tours and activities for the public and for schools.
Stephen Tapert, a co- curator of the exhibition, is also the author of BEST ACTRESS . Dictionary of Dive Oscar, published by Silvana Editoriale . The volume contains , in addition to introductory texts, critical and biographical cards of each of the 72 plaintiffs , their portraits and numerous other images from the show.
On the occasion of the exhibition Best actress. Dive da Oscar®. organized by the National Museum of Cinema in Turin ( Mole, 3 April to 31 August ) and the exhibition " Tina Modotti. Retrospective " (Palazzo Madama , May 1 to October 6 ) in the Senate organized in collaboration with Silvana Editoriale, the University of Turin offers a study day devoted to some cases of the Oscar- winning actresses , chosen in relation to time and joints particularly significant in the history of cinema. Several Italian scholars will present ways of reading and analysis of the identity of the female characters in movies that hatch will be addressed.
The conference, entitled Women of the portrait. Models divistici and feminine identities, is curated by Julia Carluccio and Mariapaola Pierini , University of Turin DAMS - CRAD ( Research Centre on the actor and stardom ), Department of Humanistic Studies, and will be held at Cinema Massimo June 9, 2014, from 10 am to 18.
On the occasion of the exhibition will also be presented with the renewed partnership between the National Museum of Cinema , and Air France, the official carrier of Best actress. Dive da Oscar®. The Air France KLM Group alongside the major events of the museum throughout the year : in addition to the above shows , KLM will support the festival for the third time CinemAmbiente and TGLFF - Turin Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, while the French company will be next Torino Film Festival and the exhibition planned for the autumn
Also announced the renewal of the agreement between Turin Airport and the National Museum of Cinema, which provides temporary exhibitions in the airport premises , interactive displays and promotions offered to all passengers in transit to encourage the view at the National Museum of Cinema , and the development of tourist and cultural territory.
