The exhibition, with materials stored in the Archives ATER Venice (made available for the first time) and the Archive Projects IUAV University of Venice, aims to illustrate some of the key interventions by IACP in the years between the two wars - crucial years for the birth of polycentric urban development that characterizes Venice in the twentieth century. Between 1914 and 1936, when the IACP become provincial, two basic steps are followed, highlighted during the exhibition: a so-called "neo-island", in the twenties, when the new districts are made mostly in the historic city, next to new productive activities ranging rising at the Lido, in Santa Marta, on the Giudecca, at St. Helena; a second phase "territorial", in the thirties, when the activity of the IACP moved to the mainland, in particular with the construction of the Garden City of Marghera, after moving here of the commercial port.
The exhibition is divided into several sections which cover the main housing estates made by IACP in the years between the wars: Garden City at the Lido, Santa Marta, Giudecca, Saint Helena, Marghera. As the numerous drawings on display document, while promoting the development of Venice in the modern sense, the actions promoted by the Institute does not seem to have never neglected the relationship with the particular environment of the lagoon, which distinguishes it from similar and contemporary achievements of other cities.
They will also be presented photographic materials kindly reproduced with the help of the archive "Royal Photography Giacomelli" the Venice City Council, Department of Culture - Sector Library and Archives of Communication and a video made with footage coming from 'Historical Archive Light Light Institute -Cinecittà srl of Rome.
