PAC is one of the first examples in Italy of an exhibition space fully dedicated to contemporary art. Through its work, that began in 1979, it has always tried to generate all sorts of discussion on art and to call the attention to the contemporary projects, casting a glance towards the future.
The program of PAC is developed by the Department of Culture of Milan along with Italian and international guest curators, in cooperation with private partners for every exhibition. Over the years, it has hosted key names in the international contemporary art scene as Laurie Anderson, Kounellis, Duane Hanson, Emilio Vedova, Andres Serrano, Lucio Fontana, Richard Long, Vanessa Beecroft, Marina Abramovic, Yayoi Kusama, Tony Oursler and many others. In addition to these projects, there are often proposals for research and experimentation with artists not well known to the Italian public yet and for an overview on the national scene, with single and collective exhibitions dedicated to Italian artists of different generations.
In parallel to the exhibitions, PAC is developing a project to promote the awareness of contemporary art, linking its exhibitions to special events and other projects in order to gain understanding and deeper knowledge of the topics proposed. We organize educational activities for adults and children, links to music and theatre programs, readings, meetings and conferences. So, in recent years, PAC has succeeded in reaching an audience more and more interested and demanding, who closely follows all the initiatives.
Founding member of AMACI – the Association of Italian Contemporary Art Museums - PAC also interacts with the most important players in Italy dealing with contemporary art: lenders and collectors, galleries and exhibition spaces, not to mention the close relationship with the Exhibition of Modern and Contemporary Art of Milan (MiArt ), which for some years has been producing and performing important artistic events.
