Funeral Monument for Clement XIII

Il grande scultore veneto realizzò la tomba per Carlo Rezzonico, strutturandola su tre livelli: al primo sono poste le allegorie, due leoni proteggono l’accesso al sepolcro, mentre ai lati sono il Genio della Morte e la Religione; al secondo il sarcofago; al terzo la statua del pontefice inginocchiato in preghiera e con la tiara poggiata in terra in segno d’umiltà.

The great sculptor from Veneto created the tomb for Carlo Rezzonico, structuring it on three levels: at the first there are allegories, two lions protect access to the sepulcher, while on the sides are the Genus of Death and Religion; on the second level is the sarcophagus; on the third is a statue of the pontiff kneeling in prayer with his crown on the ground out of humility.
