The cycle on the ceiling of the Sala Capitolare, begun in 1739, is dedicated to glorifying the role of the scapular, the particular cloak worn by the prior of the Carmelites, received from the Virgin herself in 1251. It is precisely this subject that was chosen for the central section, which was completed by Tiepolo in 1749.
