For this year’s Christmas show, RvB Arts celebrates 150 years of Alice in Wonderland. The imaginative world of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland has fascinated and inspired generations of artists since the novel’s publication in 1865 by Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (1832-1898), better known by his pen name Lewis Carroll.
This captivating exhibition of paintings, sculptures, photographs and drawings showcases the work of 14 artists, many of them, including Lucianella Cafagna, Roberto Fantini and Lorenzo Bruschini, already well known to the Rome gallery’s public. For this occasion, young Italian artist duo Tania Brassesco and Lazlo Passi Norberto, whose fine art photographs have been shown in museums, foundation and galleries around the world, return to the gallery that helped ‘discover’ them.
Visitors to the two opening events on December 3 and 4 have the chance of winning an artwork from the exhibition. A total of four works will be donated as prizes in a charity raffle. Money raised from the sale of the raffle tickets will go to AfrikaSì NGO to help fund the schooling of children living in the Deep Sea Slum in Nairobi, Kenya.
RvB Arts is a Rome gallery specializing in affordable, original contemporary painting, sculpture and photography by young, emerging artists. It organizes exhibitions and events throughout the year in its permanent galleries at Via delle Zoccolette 28 and Via Giulia 198. With many of its artists winning awards, participating in such prestigious events as the Venice Biennale and moving quickly out of the ‘affordable’ bracket, RvB Arts is building a strong reputation for scouting new talent.
RvB Arts shares space with the Antiquariato Valligiano – a fixture on the Rome antiques scene since 1982. It specializes in furniture and collectibles from the Italian Alpine valleys with a tasteful, rustic quality. Its inventory changes regularly making every visit a new adventure.
