The MEF, Museo Ettore Fico, has the pleasure to present, for the inaugural exhibition of the new exhibition space dedicated to the Master of Turin, a retrospective in the national collections.
Over two hundred works, including oils, gouaches, drawings, watercolors and engravings, never before exhibited, performed by the first Thirties to 2004 the year of his death.
The most significant production of Ettore Fico is collected in this anthology that covers sixty years of its production and is a compendium of the previous retrospective dedicated to him in 2007 at the Spinning Wheel of Caraglio.
The exhibition is a tribute to the artist and his lively artistic and existential: Algiers during the years of imprisonment
in war, Liguria, Riviera and Castiglione Torinese, shelter and much-loved character in many of his works. An art that has its roots in a dimension linked to the extraordinary experience of international painting and interpretation of objects and landscapes imbued with a sense of poetry. In many of his works are collected and mysterious feel the charm of his garden in Castiglione, a meeting place but also a place of refuge and magical silence, the reference point and the story of the alternation of the seasons with its lights and colors. Present in important exhibitions from the first post-war onwards, has participated in numerous exhibitions such as the Quadrennial Turin and the Seventh Quadrennial National Art in Rome in 1955.
The exhibition unfolds through a long and detailed chronological path that allows you to define which aspects of a painting by Cezanne to Braque, Bonnard and Monet to Matisse. unfolds through a rich color of matter and light.
The exhibition offers the most unusual aspects of the research and artistic development of Ettore Fico, from experiences to more abstract geometric impressions delineated by subtle touches of pure color with brush strokes of materials and informal.
All works exhibited here for the first time, from drawings to oil pastels to tempera, engravings, are the techniques through which Fico builds his inner world revealing emotions and feelings that belong to him forever.
A comprehensive publication by Marco Meneguzzo, independent curator and lecturer at the Academy of Brera and Faye Hirsch, a professor at Purchase College in New York, editor at Art in America and an expert in works on paper, is published on the occasion of the exhibition.

Ettore Fico was born in Piatto Biellese September 21, 1917 After the first studies in painting with the master Luigi Serralunga, partly because of the Second World War, 1943-1946 is a prisoner in Algeria.
