300 years after the oath of Filippo Juvarra, titled "First Civil Architect" by Victor Amadeus II of Savoy on 15 December 1714, the Senate recalls his architect with a thrilling spectacle of video projections and sounds that retraces the steps of his career in Turin.
Images, lights, music for an experience full of meaning and unique. The Sicilian architect who transformed Turin in the capital of the kingdom with his masterpieces, first of all the facade of Palazzo Madama, is celebrated today in the room that overlooks the staircase designed by him. Thanks to the work of Media Art Studio in Florence and architects Vincenzo Capalbo and Marilena Bertozzi, Palazzo Madama stages a spectacular video installation that takes its cue from the collections of drawings by Juvarra held in the collections of the museum. Senate will be exhibited in the Hall also four albums of drawings that Filippo Juvarra sewed before his departure for Madrid. There are volumes that consist of 644 sheets using pencil, pen and watercolor between 1706 and 1735.
All albums have been digitized high definition with a quality that allows you to appreciate every detail of the extraordinary quality of Juvarra as a draftsman and his inexhaustible creative fantasy. Sketches and architectural drawings, "thoughts" design, landscapes of fantasy, set designs, drawings adorned the excellent dialogue between them and correlate it with the architecture created in Turin and Piedmont, and especially with the architectural framework of the Hall Senate. The audience will witness a projection audio-video cross and evocative, engaging in terms of emotional and interactive in some parts. The drawings come to life, come to life and interact with the buildings, with objects, with the characters of the story of Turin the first capital of the kingdom sabaudo.Le images will be projected on three sides of the hall of the Senate.
The video installation is divided into thematic groups dealing with different aspects of the artistic production of Filippo Juvarra: the encounter with Victor Amadeus II of Savoy, who in 1714 was in Sicily to get the royal title, to the views of Turin before 'arrival of the architect. Some sections are dedicated to architectural projects: the Venaria and the hunting lodge of Stupinigi, Superga, Santa Cristina, San Filippo, and the monumental staircase of Palazzo Madama and Palazzo Reale. The genius of Juvarra director of design and decor, along with spectacular designs, fantastic views, drawings of ornate, until the story of the album: the four volumes realized at the end of the career of Juvarra and stored in the Senate. Scipione Maffei in 1738 thus described Filippo Juvarra: "cheerful, good conversation, and a close friend of 'amusement. [...] It was so fast in the draw, and in inventing, that refraining often with many friends, and gentlemen in the cafe of the Castle, some request made to him, immediately put them on paper various thoughts. "The drawing is not simply a phase of the creative process in which the initial idea takes visible form, nor only a working tool intended to patrons and workers.
Through drawing Juvarra evokes the essence of the volume of a building, or results in his inventive forms of decorator, mindful of the experience in his father's workshop goldsmith. Observes reality and returns in fantastic view, observes a classic and captures the essence deep.
