Spazio Ferramenta, for the event that is part of the rich calendar of the week dedicated to contemporary art in Turin, broadens the network of collaborations involving young curators and artists.
The site-specific action A piece of paper, presented for the first time Tuesday, November 4, was born from the meeting between the Taiwanese artist Gao Yuan and the Italian artist Francesca Arri, the curator Sara Bortoletto and Spazio Ferramenta.
The intercultural performance seeks to modernize some of the topics to Laozi in the third century BC and to do so will extrapolate some quotes from the Tao Te Ching, the Book of the Way and Virtue.
The Tao Te Ching is one of the three texts attributed to the Taoist tradition and describes, in about 5000 characters, the basic principles of the universe. The Dao is the fundamental idea of the whole Chinese philosophy: the Man and the world form an indissoluble and what influence each other.
The means by which the discount will be life calligraphy, perfect medium for direct contact between the man and the Way of the Universe, and the bodies of the artists, instruments and substance of the action together. So, if for Taoism being and non-being is autogenerano and depend on each other, A piece of paper intends to show how the flow of creation is? in harmony with nature and at the same time as the creation itself will be relevant.
The relativity of life leads us to think that what appears to be complex even the opposite. So, life - the body of Frances Arri - can be extremely complex and simple at the same time as the paper on which it operates Gao Yuan.
The topics and themes of the Dao De expressed in the Tao Te Ching have been investigated by two artists, later enriched by cultural influences and ideas from contemporary, finally re-read through personal experience. It is precisely this unusual combination of factors to combine their artistic actions giving rise to the performance in the play of paper.
Yuan Gao is a Taiwanese photographer and performer based in New York that explores the cultural identity through the iconic symbols in use in ancient times and in the contemporary era. Artist with a strong international background, has won major awards including the Premio Terna and the World Wide Photography Award, and his works are in private collections and museums in Portugal, Spain, the USA and Taiwan.
Arri Francesca is a young performer and visual artist, whose body, matter to build and shape, it becomes a means to explain the limits of man and society. His work has been presented at major international fairs including Fondazione Hangar Bicocca, Milan, Fondazione Merz, Turin, Matadero-Madrid, Tel Aviv Museum of Art, 12th Istanbul Biennial.
