After Milan and Dublin, where they decorated the new European headquarters of Facebook, the duo of Swiss street-artists NEVERCREW arrives in Turin, in the gallery spaces Square23, with "Frequency spectrum", their reflection on perception and communication, between reality and surreality.
Pablo Togni and Christian Rebecchi more than "duo" are "one". Working together since 1996 united by their common to painting and street art. Have exhibited and participated in international projects and festivals in Belgrade, Cairo, Hamburg, Monaco, Zurich, Lugano.
Their work is characterized by some key concepts, such as the mechanism, composition, section, parts, memory, choice, relationships, contrasts, exploration, surreality. The whole is connected together, melted in living and compositions that change because lives, evolving in time and space.
Combining different languages is their signature style: assembly lines, organic beings and mechanical gears, sea monsters, "living structures" intersect in their jobs just like the styles that use, including graphic synthesis and hyperrealism spray.
Their structures are models of living systems, the overviews made perceptible in their totality and in their structure through the use of the "section" that allows you to see them as they are in them, in the case of a mechanism or spaces a house or structure of a living being. The relationship between the parties and with the memory is extended to the whole of reality, the place and the viewer, leaving him the opportunity to complete the mechanism by his personal experience, with its history and then with its multiple interpretations.
In "Frequency Spectrum", in particular, attention is focused on perception and communication, their difference and constant interaction.
Pablo Togni was born in 1979 in Bellinzona, Switzerland. Christian Rebecchi was born in 1980 in Lugano, Switzerland. Both attend the Art School C.S.I.A. Lugano and following the course of Painting of Professor Nicholas Salvatore Academy of Beautiful Arts of Brera in Milan, graduating in 2005.
Since 1996, work together and give life to the artistic duo NEVERCREW, starting to approach the street art (which at that time was still seen only under the name of "graffiti") with an approach primarily pictorial and through other forms of expression such as sculpture, graphics, illustration, photography and video, starting from now to paint around the Ticino. In these early years involved exposure of graffiti "From the Road" at the Canton Museum of Modern Art in Bellinzona (CH), paint in prisons pretoriali Bellinzona (CH), are selected as "young designers Ticino" as part of 'event "Innovafumetto" in Lugano (CH) and participating in several exhibitions in Milan and Como (Italy) during the courses at the Academy of Fine Arts.
Since 2004 further concentrate on painting and, while continuing to work with the spray can, try to combine the experience and spirit of the murals, street art and graphic, with expressive researches made in the years of the academy. For some years working for various companies (such as Costa Crociere, the Italian Swiss Radio RSI SSR-SRG, Kuoni-Shoestring, ...) and ministries citizens.
Since 2008 again extend the range of their artistic creations, returning to work in both two-dimensional and in three dimensions. The principal work of these years are the painting "Octopus" Skatepark in Lugano (CH), the live performance during the "Volvo Art Session" at the central station of Zurich (CH), and the art direction of the film "All Down" Niccolò Castelli (Imagofilm Lugano, CH).
Always as independent artists, from 2010 starting a new research staff who decide to devote more and more time: a language more determined at the conceptual level, but not forcibly from technical point of view and vision, which takes the form mainly in their "sections" and in "living structures." With a number of these works in 2012 to participate ArtYou Urban Art Basel (CH) and in the same year realize the huge mural "Magenta" in Lugano (CH).
In 2013 they won the prize "Artist of the Year - 2012" Bally Cultural Foundation, are invited to be part of the international "Stroke Curated" during Stroke Urban Art Fair in Monaco (DE), realize the interactive installation "Tin Can Phone Project "in Lugano (born from the previous" Project Funnel ", 2012) and one of their images is selected for a print in a limited edition gift as official guests of the Locarno Film Festival. In the same year are realized two personal exhibitions in Lugano (CH): the first at the "limonaia" Villa Saroli (Museo d'Arte Lugano), where they present the installation "Part of the Process", and the second at Ego Gallery where have several unpublished works and installations, the result of their recent run.
In 2014 NEVERCREW realizes the works in the new spaces of Facebook in Milan (I) and Dublin (IRE) and participates in several international projects and art festivals: Hamburg (DE), Belgrade (Serbia), Cairo (Egypt), Winterthur (CH), Zurich (CH).
