One of the gates of the Aurelian Wall, whose arches, belonging to the Acqueduct of Claudius (52 A.D.) cross Via Prenestina and Labicana (today the Casilina). The enormous structure in travertine marble is built with the opus quadratum stone-mason technique of the romans with two principal openings with as many aedicules, while the top is enclosed and bears the inscriptions of Claudius and Emperors Vespasian and Titus, who restored the acqueduct. Next to the gate is the sepulchre of the baker Eurisace and his wife Atinia, decorated with scenes depicting the baking and selling of bread.
