The Alms of Saint Anthoninus
Castello
- Artist: Lorenzo Lotto
- Location: The Alms of Saint Anthoninus
- Date: 1542
At a time of distress for Venice, Lotto portrays the image of organized aid and paints the Dominican bishop assessing the requests of the poor handing out alms through the convent clerics. In the crowd, the red-robed figure near the signature is the portrait of the painter wearing a laurel crown to form one of his typical riddles: Laurus-Laurentius.
