DESCRIZIONE:
Built during the Ventennio (the anniversary of fascism in Italy), between 1936 and 1937, as a virtual factory of cinema that could challenge the studios of Hollywood. Its first 12 sound stages were designed by Gino Peressutti. Luigi Freddi was made Director General of Cinematography and headed up the propaganda machine and overlooked the ideological content of all film productions. During the Second World War the sound stages were occupied by the Nazis, but in the 50s, it became the so-called Hollywood-on-the-Tiber, hosting huge american productions (Ben Hur, Quo vadis?, etc.).
Cinecittà Shows is an exhibition that allows you to discover the secrets of cinema through the history of Cinecittà. Monumental sets, the costumes worn by international stars such as Sophia Loren and Alberto Sordi, accessories, pieces of furniture of the most significant films shot in Cinecittà and finally the sketches of famous designers, enchant the visitor led him by the hand into the Dream Factory.
The exhibition is divided into three sections that trace the history of Italian and international cinema, crafts film and the path Backstage, which enables us to explore and interact with the different audiovisual languages??. In the various sections of the exhibition are deepened crafts film honoring the most important Italian tailors theater, the tooling stage and various professional and figures that contribute to the success of a film.
The visit to the exhibition also offers the ability to make a complete tour through the sets residents still used today for shooting of films and fiction national and international. Expert guides accompany visitors on the set of Broadway / New York where it was filmed Gangs of New York by Martin Sorsese and Third Person by Paul Haggis, the majestic ancient Rome reconstructed series for the Anglo-American Rome and Florence in the fifteenth century and explaining the peculiarities characteristics of each one of sets.
The tour continues in the park, where visitors may admire the exterior sculptures and spectacular film of "A Doctor in the Family."
In summer, in view of the opening of the prestigious Coffee Cinecittà, visitors can relax in the stylish café or look inside the bookshop looking for something original and unique.

THINGS TO KNOW: Federico Fellini shot a large part of his films on the legendary soundstage 5, which also hosted the wake of the great director, who died on 31 October 1993.
