On Friday, June 13, 2014 at the Space Azimut opens To which body i belong?, Rosangela Leotta exhibition, curated by Tiziana Pantaleo. For the Sicilian artist - born in 1981 - this is the personal "collection" of premium assigned in 2012 by the jury of the quality of the fifteenth edition of the competition I do I expose. Since then it's been almost two years, for Rosangela have been full of important changes, as an artist and as a woman. A few days after being announced as the winner, in fact, gave birth to her firstborn, and since then his art has had a natural stasis, a slow and reflexive shooting, an understandable and spontaneous transformation. His paintings and drawings had hitherto declared in connection with a purely iconic tradition, made of technical accuracy, and dedicated to a faithful representation, and pencils and crayons used with a particular sensitivity settings made the evanescent and figures - especially young women - naively ambiguous. In these recent works is presented a new way of seeing things, in which there is separation from the first configuration. The starting point is the link - and the possible analogies - that humans have with water, primordial element, vital fluid, amniotic fluid, which protects and nourishes. The exhibition's title is taken from freely Beta, track contained in Pollution, the second album by Franco Battiato (1972), which in turn inspired by Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, science fiction novel written in 1932, foreshadowing a company created in a test tube, without emotion, without fear, without frailty and desire for knowledge, where everything works and is pleasant, smooth and neat, but where there is no inner life, no interest factors typically humanizing. "Inside me live my life the same micro-organisms that do not know they belong to my body ... I belong to which body?" Says Sinatra, and the works of Rosangela seems to get out of the echo; sung those words take shape, and show the extraordinary nature of the human body, wonderful machine that works fine, which is self to be special. With this series of small works on canvas and paper, the artist embarks on a journey inside the human body and - Analogously - is immersed in the water world, establishing a dialogue between the world of mobile and marine habitat: inner landscapes, details seen through a microscope, explored and researched in the manuals of human biology and marine geology, to accommodate the input to go deep, to the understanding of what is infinitely small.
