The Françoise Calcagno Art Studio is pleased to present the first solo exhibition by Carla Bagno.
The artist, who lives and works in Venice, comes close to the painting quite late but, since she was a child,
she was attracted by this type of reality and she really loved to draw, especially copying in person.
College studies and some work task distract her attention from this passion, that is asleep but still alive
inside, so from 2006 Carla starts to attend some painting and drawing course with Maria Teresa Sartori e
Franco S. Bianchi. This new artistic path proceeds until 2011 at the art High School in Venice with Carla’s
technical improvement under the supervision of professor Maurizio Favaretto.
Carla Bagno prefers an oil, acrylic and tempera technique. She loves to fix quick sketches in pencil or ink
on her travel journal. Now, finally, she is ready to face people’s opinion with her first solo exhibition.
Anyway, her previous experiences in several contests and group exhibits vouch for her artistic capacity.
If exists a painting that can revel the personality of the artist, Carla’s one absolutely has this quality. In
fact, every of her artworks whichever subject she paints, could be named “self-portrait” for the perfect
description that gives of her. With her paint, Carla Bagno expresses her own world, where realty is filtered
through the suffused lens of her point of view.
There are no screams or a groundless research of effects, all is made concrete by little brush strokes. All
her artworks are soaved by thin light and the sun does not overcome. Carla’s subjects, may they be por-
traits of landscapes, are revealed using weightless chromatic variations that underline elements, lights and
shadows, giving to the altogether a unique tonal effect.
Carla Bagno as artist is inevitably daughter of the great venetian painting tradition, and from this she has
inherit the magic of composing directly with the color, without the “limit” of a preventive draw.
Her compositions give a markless poetic vision. She is able to exprime with some small lines, a delicate
whisper, a new point of view of a world made of little things that have an evoking capacity typical of
whom is able to observe and see.
It is really pleasant to delve into Carla Bagno’s world, where the calm reigns, and we are grateful to her
that has invited us to join this poetic.
