More than 25.000 people visited the first Italian museum show by Joseph Klibansky held between March and May 2016 at the prestigious Palazzo Cavalli-Franchetti on the Grand Canal in Venice.
After this amazing result, the Gallery Bonnet Van Der Sluis in Campo Santo Stefano, Venice, is very pleased to present a solo show by Joseph Klibansky, entitled New Urban Wonderland, that will run from May 24th to July 3rd 2016.
Joseph Klibansky is a prolific Dutch artist with a large global following, whose artistic practice blurs the thresholds between digital photograph, painting and sculpture. His work can be considered of post- conceptual tradition, enriched with a powerful visual aesthetic and an ironic approach.
Various types of artworks can be identified within his artistic practice that usually follows two different paths: digital urban landscapes conceived with a dreamy-like imagery, and the sculptures, that usually depict subjects borrowed from the contemporary cosmopolitan world. Klibansky uses his work to make people reflect on society and their lives.
Recurrent topics in his works are everyday life in contemporary large cities, recursive overlapping of real and digital, and the conflict between the past and the future. Conceptually close to the New Media Art, he uses innovative techniques that combine digital technology with handicraft techniques.
In spite of his young age, he has gained an outstanding reputation in the art system with displays at major international art fairs, impressive auction sales, and commissions from important corporate collections.
The exhibition will feature both digital paintings and sculptures that are going to be displayed by creating a narrative throughout the walls of the gallery.
The Bonnet Van der Sluis Gallery is a contemporary art gallery founded by Mrs. Immechien Bonnet and Mrs. Susanna van der Sluis. They are showcasing a variety of original art works in the field of photography, sculpture, painting and mixed media. The gallery is a dynamic mix of young and emerging artists in conjunction with the known and established names in the international art world.
Opening: 24th May 5.00-7.00 pm
