The painting of The Triumph of San Rocco, dated between 1710 and 1712, was executed for the high altar of the church - which also contained two other pictures, one with the rest of the flight into Egypt and the other with the saints Gennaro, Philip Blacks and Federico Borromeo, - in thanks for having escaped the plague. The composition is inspired by the works of Luca Giordano eighties of the seventeenth century as well as paintings by Mattia Preti: undoubtedly the figure of the dead woman lying on the ground in the foreground, very nature, is an excerpt from the scene of the plague of the Priests of the 1656.
