On the side of the Basilica di San Marco, towards Palazzo Ducale, is a celebrated group of porphyry sculpture. Originally from Constantinople, it depicts the four emperors (Diocletian, Maximian, Constantius Chlorus, Galerius) who governs various parts of the empire. They embrace in a sign of unity.
