Allegory of Merit
Ca’ Rezzonico – Museum of XVIII-century Venetian art
Tiepolo painted the Allegory of Merit on the ceiling of what is known as the Throne Room, depicting Merit as a bearded old man crowned with laurels, ascending to the temple of immortal glory accompanied by Nobility, the winged figure holding the spear, and Virtue, whilst Fame blows its trumpet.
