The Dome of Sant’Ignazio
Church of St. Ignazio of Loyola
In the church of the Collegio Romano, named for the founder of the Jesuits, the dome was never realized for lack of funds. However, where the nave and the transept intersect there is a mark on the floor. Standing on this spot and looking up the dome is there! This is the result of an incredible play on perspective by Father Andrea Pozzo in 1685.
