Piero Ruggeri, (Turin April 27, 1930 -14 May 2009)
He graduated in 1956 at the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in the same year he was invited to his first Venice Biennale.
In 1955, 1957, 1959, participates in the hometown, three editions of 'Italy - France'. Following Ruggeri assimilates new emergencies of abstract expressionism, in which it is easy to identify the opening references to Europeans and Americans. Moreover, Ruggeri is a painter 'caught', not just for feeling alert and continuous filtering of discussions and contemporary experiences, but also for critical review, excavation and dialogue, uninterrupted until today, with the language of the tradition of painting symbolically witnessed by many his paintings bearing, titles, an explicit reference to Tintoretto, Caravaggio, Rembrandt, Mattia Preti, Goya, Monet.
Won national and international awards including: Award Morgan's and Paint, Solomon Guggenheim New York, Marzotto, Sao Paulo, Fiorino, Liss, Villa S. Giovanni.
From 1974 to 1980 he presented a series of works dedicated to the bushes. In 1978 he was invited by Luigi Carluccio at the Biennale of Venezia.Partecipa in numerous editions of the Venice Biennial and Quadrennial Roma.Tra solo exhibitions are worth mentioning: the room at the XXXI Biennale di Venezia, the anthologies of Palazzo Massari in Ferrara 1984 Villa Reale di Monza in 1985, the Circle of Artists in Turin in 1986, in 1993 the House of Mantegna in Mantua. In Turin in 1998 at Palazzo Bricklehampton. A Palace Sarcinelli Galleria Comunale d'Arte di Conegliano (Treviso) in 2000, at the Palazzo Magnani, Reggio Emilia in 2008 A large number of solo and group exhibitions sees his works, as well as in Italy, France, Austria, Switzerland , Belgium, USA, Brazil, Russia, Egypt, Australia, Beijing-China, Abu Dhabi-United Arab Emirates.
The exhibition includes 20 paintings from 1958 to 1979 Twenty years of his extraordinary painting.
