GALLERIA CONTINUA, Abbazia di San Giorgio Maggiore - Benedicti Claustra Onlus and the Educational Department of Castello di Rivoli are pleased to invite you on Saturday, October 28th 2017 from 10am to 6pm to the special event Amare le differenze nel segno del Terzo Paradiso (Love the differences in the name of the Third Paradise) which will take place on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice.
On the occasion of Michelangelo Pistoletto’s exhibition One and One makes Three, curated by Lorenzo Fiaschi, a Collateral Event of the 57th International Art Exhibition – la Biennale di Venezia, a THIRD PARADISE will be realized through a collective action.
Viewers as well as tourists, children as well as adults, will be invited to create a group operation with bands of recycled aluminium foils provided by CiAl - Consorzio Imballaggi Alluminio in the churchyard of the magnificent Basilica of San Giorgio Maggiore. Through the THIRD PARADISE art becomes a sustainable language to overcome cultural and generational boundaries, in order to reflect over the big questions of our existence together.
Michelangelo Pistoletto believes that “differences between people and social groups are the first things to accept and embrace openly, being sensitive and warm in order to finally give a real meaning to the word Humanity”. The Abbey of San Giorgio Maggiore attracts and welcomes a multitude of different people thanks to the historic beauty that it encloses. On this day dedicated to Amare le differenze nel segno del Terzo Paradiso (Love the differences in the name of the Third Paradise) people will be able to transform themselves from viewers to participants, invited to interact and to leave a trace. The creation of this THIRD PARADISE will be a gesture, a collective action and a moment of shared meditation for a contemporary reflection on the themes of Rebirth and social responsibility.
This date is part of the program of the Rebirth-day 2017, a group of international events on the theme of Rebirth, promoted by Michelangelo Pistoletto and the Cittadellarte - Fondazione Pistoletto since 2012, with the collaboration of a global network of Ambassadors. The Educational Department of Castello di Rivoli has been part of this network since 2005, when the first collective action in the sign of the THIRD PARADISE took place.
Two special guided tours (at 2pm and 4pm) will allow participants to discover the ambitions of the THIRD PARADISE through the works exhibited in One and One makes Three.
The 2pm tour is organised by GALLERIA CONTINUA, the 4pm tour by Club dell’Ornitorinco.
