Two inlaid works are all that remain of the splendid decorations of the Basilica di Giunio Basso, the hall of the council of representatives (331 A.D.) on the Esquiline in front of the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore. The two scenes depict Rapimento di Hylas da Parte delle Ninfe, episode from the story of the Argonauts and the Pompa Circensis, an inauguration of the games (the character at the center may be Giunio Basso).
