The first home to the  Museo Nazionale Romano (1889), it is placed at the center of the complex of hot springs (298-306 d.C.), the halls of which were transformed by Micelangelo to create the Convent of the Certosini annex to the Basilica di Santa Maria degli Angeli. Currently, only a part of the structure is open to visits along with two sections of the museum, that of the Protostoria dei Popoli Latini and the Epigrafica. Among the sections of the ancient structure which can be visited are the Aula Decima with the tomb of Platorini and two tombs found in the Necropolis of Via Portuense, and the Michelangelo-conceived Cloister of the Certosa.
