Turin’s former Fiat factory, commissioned by Giovanni Agnelli (1915) and designed by Giacomo Macchè Trucco, was opened in 1939 as one of the most modern industrial plants of Europe, with so much as an overhead racetrack to test the factory cars. After being redesigned by Renzo Piano (1992) it has become a multifunctional facility with a conference centre (the famous “crystal bubble”), an auditorium, a trade fair centre, offices, cinemas and a shopping centre. It houses the treasure chest rooftop gallery Pinacoteca Agnelli.
