Each summer in Venice a ritual is repeated as tradition: outdoor cinema going. A social meeting event, it is a true cinema festival attended by thousands of viewers. Every evening in campo San Polo, before the largest screen of Venice (150 sqm) and in the most capacious "theatre" (1300 seats), from the middle of July to the end of August the blockbusters of the previous season and the premiers of new films are screened. In September the Effetto Notte festival is on, showing the Venice Film Festival films in Venice since the 80s: it is a parallel festival, with all the films shown on the Lido island screened one or two days later.
