Ciborium
Basilica of Saint Cecilia in Trastevere
The second famed ciborium in Rome by Arnolfo, carried out eight years after that of San Paolo Fuori le Mura. In respect to the other, the great sculptor from Tuscany reduced the vertical gothic sensibility increasing, instead, the sense of movement, rotating the pinnacles, and demonstrating his understanding of classical art with a citation by Marcus Aurelius in San Tiburzio a Cavallo placed in one of its corners.
