Statue of Charles I of Anjou
The statue was created by the celebrated tuscan sculpture and architect for Santa Maria in Aracoeli, which, in the Middle Ages, became a sort of new Roman forum with a tribunal or “school of justice” as it was called. Charles of Anjou took advantage of the place to speak to the roman people. The King of Sicily, of french origin, is shown with the symbols of power, sceptre and crown, incredibly realistic and majestically impassive.
